Vladrom quarries in south-eastern Romania – tradition and modern technology
Vladrom operates two major quarries in south-eastern Romania, supplying high-quality mineral aggregates for road infrastructure projects, hydraulic works, and civil construction. The combination of the region's geological heritage and modern crushing technology ensures certified products that meet the most demanding European standards.
Turcoaia granite quarry – one of Romania's oldest and largest quarries
The Turcoaia granite quarry has a history dating back to 1897, when engineer Anghel Saligny used granite from this area for the construction of the Cernavodă Bridge. Today, the quarry is equipped with modern crushing lines and a conveyor belt system that ensures efficient aggregate delivery.
Turcoaia granite stands out for its high hardness and wear resistance, making it preferred for the wearing course of roads and highways.
Quarry aggregate portfolio: from crushed sand to heavy riprap
- Crushed sand 0-4 mm – for concrete and mortar
- Screenings 4-8 mm, 8-16 mm, 16-25 mm – for asphalt mixes and concrete
- Crushed stone 25-40 mm, 40-63 mm – for road foundations
- Quarry ballast 0-63 mm – for railway and road infrastructure
- Riprap 100-300 kg, 300-800 kg – for hydraulic works and bank stabilization
Nicolae Bălcescu limestone quarry – strategic source
The Nicolae Bălcescu limestone quarry has been in operation since 1978, when it was opened to supply crushed stone for the construction of the Danube–Black Sea Canal. Since then, the quarry has developed continuously and supplies limestone aggregates for roads, industrial platforms, and civil construction works.
Logistics, delivery, and certifications
Vladrom ensures aggregate delivery both by river (via the Cernavodă port) and by road, using its own fleet of articulated trucks. All aggregates are certified according to European standards and benefit from permanent quality control in the company's own laboratory.
